The Man in Cabin Number Five, Book One

I met David on a blind date in mid-May, at a dance place I’d been to before. Most blind dates I’d been on ended in disaster, so I drove my own car in case I needed to make a quick dash. The minute I saw him, though, I knew he was the man I was going to marry. I’m not sure what it was that made me think that, for he was not tall, dark and handsome like what most girls dream of, but of average height and looks. My heart didn’t pitter patter, but I felt something different.
He had a distinguished look about him and even though he was casually dressed in tan slacks and a dark shirt, he looked sophisticated. He laughed with his friends and drank beer with a confidence that came with his years. He was sure of himself, and must have been equally interested in me, for only a few minutes after meeting me, he asked if I wanted to dance.
“I didn’t think you were twenty-one,” he said. He narrowed his eyes. “And you’re different.”

Description

On Annie Parker’s 80th birthday, she embarks on a journey to write about a time in her life when she was starting over. In the 1980s when she restores seven 1920 era cabins to their original vintage charm in Lake Arrowhead, California, she has no idea that the cabins have their own stories to tell. The Man in Cabin Number Five is book one in the series, and it’s about two women; one who is looking towards her future and one who wants closure; she’s discovered her father didn’t die from natural causes, but in a murder/suicide.

Chrysteen Braun

Chrysteen Braun is a native Californian, born and raised in Long Beach. Like most authors, she knew at an early age she dreamed about writing, and in fact, wrote her first novel when she was twelve. After graduating high school she went into her family’s construction business until she could decide what career path to take, and almost fifty years later, as a licensed flooring and general contractor, she and her husband Larry retired from remodeling and interior design. (Aegean/Designing Whims in Los Alamitos, Ca.)
At Sixty Five (the new fifty), while up in their second home in Lake Arrowhead, (where she had a store called At The Cabin) and at their home in Long Beach, Chrysteen went back to writing, and wrote drafts for six novels. The mountains and Lake Arrowhead were the inspiration for the first three books in The Guest Book Trilogy, which has now become a series. These fictional restored cabins from the late 1920s all have their own stories to tell.
Her writing crosses genres of Women’s Fiction, with relationships and a little mystery and intrigue.
Chrysteen lives in Coto de Caza, Ca., ( near Mission Viejo) with her husband Larry, “who is the wind beneath my wings” and two Siamese cats, Cooper and Demi.
She’s a member of the Southern California Writer’s Association.
